Quetzal World

A quetzal is a bird a very colourful bird. Quetzals are not as loud other animals. These birds do not make noise till a cetain time of the year which is from febuary to june.In these months they sing all day. Some quetzals live alone but most of them live with their mate. When a quetzal finds it's mate they most likely live togetheir in a tree. Quetzals pick the rottens trees they then buid a nest. When a female quetzal has a baby it lays a egg. It usually lays two light blue eggs they then have to keep to eggs warm for 17 days. The male quetzal stays in the nest in the morning and afternoon, the female quetzal stays in the nest in the night and midday.Quetzals are different they don't eat other animals that live in the forest. What do Quetzals eat?

 Quetzals don't eat other animals like most animals they eat insects and fruit. The baby quetzal starts off eating insects then as they get bigger tgey start to eat food. Quetzals eat the fruit of laurel and blackberries. Quetzals eat about 5 times a day every single day. Quetzals are small but they love to eat once a quetzals start eating you can't stop it. Instead of getting full when you eat quetzals get more hungry every time they eat.They may get bigger but their a big possiblity that it will stay the same size. Some quetzals are born big and stay that way but they don't eat as much as the small quetzals. Small quetzals are born small and some of them get bigger small eat the most out of the bigger quetzals. They like to eat different kinds of fruits but only one type of insects.

A quetzal

Quetzals may be friendly at times. They are not so kind to humans. Quetzals however love to be around each other. When a quetzal see's a human it cries for help all of the quetzals that hear the cries and take the quetzal some where they think is safe. The quetzal then stays there while the others go check if the human is still there if the human is not there then it goes back where it belongs.

Baby Quetzals

When a female quetzal has a baby it lays 2 light blue eggs. The parents then keep the eggs warm for 17 days. The female quetzal then has to stay in the nest during night and midday. While the male quetzal stays in the nest during the morning and afternoon. When the baby quetzal is born it doesn't have as many feathers as the bigger qutzal. Before the baby is born the female and male quetzal may have to leae the eggs alone and many animals try to eat them like squirrels.

Why don't quetzal's make a lot noise?

Quetzals are not loud animals. Quetzals only make noise when they are all togtheir. When they are alone they are very quiet. From febuary to june all the quetzals gather and sing all day non-stop. They usually don't get a lot of sleep in those months. Many quetzals stay, but some quetzals go off because they get tired. At dawn their cries can be heard from the top of treetops.They call for the other quetzals help.Many quetzals hear the cries and rush over to help the quetzal or quetzals. Some may not hear the cries and don't know what's going on. Some quetzals hear the cries but don't help.
